Tafsīr Āyat al-Nūr

Tafsīr Āyat al-Nūr is a critical edition of Shāh Rafīʿ al-Dīn al-Dihlawī’s landmark exegesis of the Verse of Light (Sūrah al-Nūr, Q 24:35). Distinguished by its intellectual ambition and methodological depth, the work moves beyond narrowly speculative readings to offer a holistic exegetical synthesis drawing upon Qurʾānic sciences, ḥadīth, theology, and spiritual insight through a series of structured interpretive approaches.

Although highly significant, the work historically remained limited in circulation in its original Arabic form. Its modern revival began through the efforts of Mawlānā ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd al-Swātī, whose revised edition, Urdu translation, and commentary reintroduced the tafsīr to a new generation of scholars. Building upon that foundation, this edition returns particular attention to the original Arabic text, clarifying its structure, documenting manuscript variants, and illuminating its exegetical architecture through scholarly annotation and historical study.

This edition represents a major scholarly endeavor of the Tafsīr Department at Darul Qasim College and features an Arabic introduction by Shaykh Amin Kholwadia, a leading contemporary scholar of tafsīr and the Islamic intellectual tradition.

The edition further highlights an important strand of South Asian Islamic intellectual history, connecting the scholarly legacy of the Walī Allāhan household with later traditions of learning in Delhi, Deoband, and beyond. It offers students, researchers, and scholars of tafsīr, Islamic thought, and South Asian Islam access to a sophisticated example of early modern Qurʾānic hermeneutics.

تفسير آية النور هو تحقيق علمي لكتاب شاه رفيع الدين الدهلوي في تفسير آية النور من سورة النور (24:35)، وهي من أبرز الآيات القرآنية التي استوقفت المفسرين وأثارت مباحث عقدية وروحانية وبيانية عميقة. ويتميّز هذا العمل بطموحه العلمي وعمقه المنهجي، إذ لا يقتصر على المعالجات النظرية أو التأملات المجردة، بل يقدّم تفسيرا تكامليا يجمع بين علوم القرآن، والحديث، وعلم

الكلام، والإشارات، ضمن مسالك تفسيرية منظّمة ومتعددة

وعلى الرغم من القيمة العلمية الكبيرة لهذا التفسير، فإن تداوله في أصله العربي ظل محدودًا نسبيًا. وقد بدأت عنايته الحديثة بجهود مولانا عبد الحميد السواتي، الذي أعاد تقديم النص من خلال طبعة منقّحة مصحوبة بترجمة أردية وتعليقات علمية، مما أسهم في تعريف أجيال جديدة من أهل العلم بهذا التفسير. وتبني هذه الطبعة على ذلك الجهد، مع إعادة توجيه العناية بصورة خاصة إلى النص العربي الأصلي، وبيان بنيته، وتوثيق الفروق بين نسخه، وإبراز منهجه وبنائه التفسيري من خلال التحقيق العلمي والدراسة التاريخية.

وتمثّل هذه الطبعة أحد المشاريع العلمية البارزة لقسم التفسير في جامعة دار القاسم، كما تشتمل على مقدمة عربية للشيخ أمين خولوديا، أحد أبرز علماء التفسير والفكر الإسلامي المعاصرين
